1. Scope and summary
This policy covers the Focus Four Android app and the support emails you send us. Focus Four is a planner. You write tasks, and the app keeps them on your device. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting service. The app's code does not send your tasks or settings to us or to anyone else.
Local storage is still data handling, so this policy describes what the app stores and what controls you have. If a separate website hosts this page, that site is outside the app and is described in section 8.
2. Information the app stores on your device
| Information | Why the app keeps it |
|---|---|
| Task titles, priority, status, carry setting, creation and update dates, board date and carry count | To show and organise your Today board and History |
| Subtasks you add to a task | To show them with the task |
| A log of changes to tasks (for example created, edited, completed, archived, reopened or carried forward), with times and the planning time zone | To power History, weekly totals and Insights, and to support Undo |
| Preferences: theme, default carry behaviour, completion animation, completion haptics | To apply your choices |
| Your device's time zone, read when the app sets up the board or when you repair the date | To decide which day a task belongs to |
| Unsaved drafts of a task you are writing | To restore them if you leave the screen |
| Whether you have finished the introduction | To avoid showing it again |
Task text is whatever you type. Do not enter information you would not want stored on your device.
The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, microphone, camera or calendar. It does not use an advertising ID or any account identifier. It generates random identifiers for tasks and events inside the database. These are not linked to you or your device.
3. Permissions and device features
- Vibration. Used for optional completion haptics. You can turn it off in Settings.
- Internet. Android lists this permission for the app because of the framework it is built on. The app's own code does not use it. We will recheck the final release build for third-party network activity before distribution.
- Files. The app asks for no broad storage permission. Export and restore use Android's Share sheet and file picker, and only touch the file you choose.
The app is set so that Android's automatic cloud backup does not include its data.
4. How we use information
We use it only to run the planner on your device. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, profile you, or use it to train AI.
5. Sharing, export and recipients
The app does not transmit your data automatically. There are two user-controlled paths:
- Export backup. When you tap Export, the app creates a JSON file of your tasks, subtasks, history, board settings and preferences. It briefly holds this file in the app's private cache, opens the Android Share sheet, and deletes the cache copy when the sheet closes. You pick the destination. That destination (for example an email app, cloud drive or messaging app) receives the whole file and handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. The file is not encrypted.
- Restore backup. You choose a JSON file. The app reads it on your device, shows a preview, and replaces your current tasks, history, drafts and settings only if you confirm.
We have no access to exported files and cannot recover or delete copies held elsewhere.
6. Storage and security
Data sits in an app-private database on your device and is protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's lock and encryption settings. The app adds no encryption or app lock of its own. Anyone who can unlock your device and open the app can see your tasks. Backup files are plain JSON, so protect them as you would any personal document. No method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention and deletion
- Delete individual items. Archive or remove tasks in the app, where the app offers that action.
- Delete everything. Settings leads to "Delete all data". It removes all tasks, history, saved drafts and settings from the app and resets preferences to defaults. Weekly totals disappear with them. Deletion happens on your device only.
- Uninstall. Removing the app causes Android to delete its stored data. Android and your device maker control how completely this happens.
- Exported copies. Deleting data in the app does not delete files you exported earlier. Delete those where you saved or sent them.
- Support email. If you write to us, the message goes to a monitored Gmail mailbox handled by one person. We retain correspondence for one year, unless the law requires longer. We have not verified the provider's storage location or an automated deletion schedule.
We keep no server-side copy of your tasks, so there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf. To ask a question about your data, email the privacy contact.
8. Service providers and other parties
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, payment or login provider. Google Play and your device maker handle installation, updates and any usage data under their own policies. If you email us, Gmail processes the message. A website hosting this policy may keep ordinary access logs, such as IP address and time of request, under its own privacy practices.
9. Your choices and rights
You can use the app without giving us any information. You control exports, restores and deletion as described above. Depending on where you live, the law may give you rights over personal data we hold, such as access, correction, deletion or objection. Because the app keeps your tasks only on your device, the only personal data we hold is any correspondence you send us. Write to the privacy contact to ask about it. We will reply as the law requires. Nothing here limits rights you cannot lawfully waive.
10. Children
Focus Four is a general-audience planner. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app has no age check. If you believe a child under 13 sent us personal information by email, write to the privacy contact and we will delete it.
11. International use
The app runs on your device and does not move your data between countries. Emails you send may be handled by our email provider in other countries. The developer operates from India.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will appear on this page with a new effective date. If the law requires further notice or consent for a material change, we will provide it. Using the app after a change means you accept the updated policy, to the extent the law allows.
